Credit ratings provide a forward-looking opinion about the ability and willingness of an issuer, such as a corporation or government, to meet its financial obligations in full and on time (i.e. creditworthiness).
Credit ratings incorporate views on the relative likelihood of default that are applied to entities (issuers) and securities (issues). They are one of many inputs available to investors as part of their decision-making process.
During this workshop, S&P Global Ratings Will present an introduction to credit ratings, their purpose and use cases, how investors utilize credit ratings, and how does a rating agency normally interact with an IR specialist or Corporate representative during and after the rating process.
The session will cover:
- What are credit ratings? What purposes do they serve?
- What are the key asset classes covered by credit ratings?
- How do market participants particularly fixed income investors use them?
- How do S&P analysts interact with issuers & their IR desks?
- Key themes for fixed income investors
